ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The weather has been terrible lately with constant rain for the last six months, nearly the end of winter. No fishing, no gardening, more rain and stuck inside!!! So the only thing to do is paint and think of spring and all the flowers in bloom. That honestly was the influence and motivation to paint this piece. This painting is produced using a variety of palette knifes. Some dobbing, some scraping and some squashing a piece of wool and dragging it gently. All fun. One of my favourite palette knives is one I made myself by cutting down a Chinese plastic soup spoon. It truly works a treat. Now this style of painting is not my usual crazy abstract style, but my wife said it was very pretty so I must be doing something right ( for a change ).

Patrick has lived on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia for over 60 years. His work reflects parts of his life with a bold and vibrant colour palette. His introductory works were mainly contemporary in nature, consisting of lively acrylics on a wildly textured plaster bases. The assortment of bases gives Patrick’s work depth, while the bulk and shadow lines bolster the pieces character. As Patrick’s work is evolutionary his latest style remains contemporary abstract. He uses various mediums and acrylics in fluid states to produce a mixture of abstract colours and shapes. Most of Patrick’s inspiration comes from the everyday world around him. He enjoys the challenge of mastering different techniques. Patrick has had many exhibitions, either solo or combined with other artists. He has won acclaim and awards for his abstract imagination. His work is displayed in galleries on the Central Coast and in private collections. .
