About The Artwork

This piece has evolved over many layers, with the base layer containing tiny glass beads in the paint medium, creating a very tactile beaded surface. Glass beads take on a very interesting look when new colors are lightly applied with a paint knife over them. The light grey-blue background colors were intended to create a calm feeling, with the primary colors popping forward. The yellow shapes remind me of flowers that are not quite organized in any way...like an explosion. Protected with a clear gloss varnish top layer. Painting is currently framed in a metallic grey painted aluminum frame with an attached wire for hanging. It is also available unframed which then has a depth of 0.5 in.

I am originally from the Chicago area, but currently reside in the Santa Marianita area near Manta, Ecuador. I have been involved in both art and photography since high school and my style has evolved to become more and more of the abstract expressionist type over time. I paint with acrylics and my pieces often contain multiple layers of paint, textures along with transparency to create depth. Most recently, some of the colors in my work have been influenced by living at the beach with blues, aquas and golden hues. Living in Ecuador also allows me the time to continue to create new work and explore new ideas.
