Hi, I’m Saffy. I used to be a successful salon owner until 8 years ago. I went into hospital for a routine operation and suffered an anaphylactic shock. This left me with permanent cognitive damage and mental health issues. To be stripped of everything you have ever had is unbearable. I had severe depression which I was hospitalised for. I knew I needed to start my life again at 52. So I bought a canvas and literally drew my feelings and used colours to help my moods. I started with little villages that were bright colours and people loved them and actually bought them. I would found that painting really did save me. I feel I have a purpose in life again. That is to make people smile and feel joy when they look at my art. I am going to help other people who have similar mental health and depression due to a life changing incident. It will help them to express their moods and emotions and gradually move forward.
