This painting is inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe's red poppies. Unlike her large oil paintings, this one is made on a small canvas using acrylics and a palette knife. Along with exploring elements of colour and shape the painting also shows the texture. The canvas is an explosion of bright red and orange. Georgia O'Keeffe wished to give people the experience and feel of the true beauty of flowers. Similarly, this painting is for the viewer to observe the exquisiteness of the flower and not just give it a glance.
