How to symbolize the tragedy going on in Ukraine? How to show and connect with feelings we all can identify with? Out of a beautiful art deco style heavy glass vase yellow flowers were removed, petals torn off and the stems tossed away, leaving no trace of growth. Dark shapes in the dark blue field are placed deliberately and left ambiguous. Without saying violence, violence is portrayed. Without showing barbaric acts a barbaric act is shown. The painting strikes the heart and calls attention to our own love of beauty and how it feels when violated. Industrial and artist's oil paint is used in its making. Painted the wood like frame as if it hung in a simple home painted by an untrained artist as their expression of the tragedy. Signed on the back, initials "carved" on the frame.
