About The Artwork

The third in a new series of paintings entitled "Flux", exploring the use of pixel shapes and color to create movement and distortion. The title and design of the piece is inspired by the human reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. Collectively we entered a state of flux and experienced an intense period of economic and social change. Painting comes ready to hang.

Kevin Cross is an Irish painter based in New York City. Although he is colorblind, his work focuses primarily on the use of color, line and form to create the illusion of motion on two dimensional surfaces. He is heavily influenced by colorfield painting, op-art, hard edge geometric abstraction and his love of minimal electronic music. Incorporating these influences, he employs a completely analog approach to creating precise and modern digital style paintings. All of his work is hand painted without pre planning or the use of computer software at any stage in the process. He paints intuitively and is fascinated by the journey each painting takes him on. He was born and raised in Limerick, Ireland. In 2006 he moved to New York City where he studied at Hunter College. His work has been shown nationally and is held in private collections both nationally and internationally.
