This is a painting of Fort Allen Park overlooking Casco Bay in Portland, Maine. It is 16x20 and is an oil painting on canvas. The image was painted completely on location. I was greatly influenced by John Singer Sargent and Winslow Homer as well as Edward Hopper. Each of these artists painted images that had overhead lighting. I felt the painting was successful in this regard. I accomplished my goal of painting the shimmering light on Casco Bay. I also felt I created a convincing deep space. with the Gazebo in the foreground with the island on the horizon in the distance.

Born 1954 in Weisbaden, GermanyI have been an artist for over 30 years. I have been a portrait painter for most of my art career. I have painted business leaders such as the posthumus portrait of L.L. Bean for the L.L. Bean Company in Freeport, Maine, Marvin Sadik, the former director of the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. and the late philanthropist Elizabeth Noyce for her private collection. I have painted multitudes of children portraits throughout the years. I am now painting landscapes in oils and pastels and exhibiting my work in the Northeast of the USA.
