ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I saw a picture of a white fox that had a orange mask, and I knew I just wanted to include that in a painting. I imagined that this great big blue bird was leading her out of a valley. This work follows my general themes of dreamy art, escapism art, fantasy art, and animal art. I hope that people feel like they are peering into another world, one in which all the sharp edges are softened. I had taken oil painting courses in college, and my instructor told me I was a natural with the sfumato technique. Unfortunately, I greatly disliked my still life paintings in that class. So I went home and painted a subject that would appeal to my imagination, and applied my love for sfumato technique to the painting.
