Calligram inspired by the famous Venus of Willendorf, a Paleolithic statuette that symbolizes fertility and female beauty. The figure is constructed entirely with fragments of words that are part of the poem "A tutte le donne" by Alda Merini, an Italian poet famous for her ability to explore interiority and female identity with intensity and delicacy. the interweaving of words to give shape to the Venus is particularly significant as it gives the figure a continuous dynamism. The warm colors that outline the figure - yellow, orange and red - evoke life, energy and warmth, accentuating the vitality of the female body. The reference to the Venus of Willendorf is chosen as an example of a past canon of beauty, belonging to another time but underlining the eternal female condition, motherhood, fertility, but also fragility and suffering, which instead have no age. Emanuela Volpe thus manages to create a work that is not only visual but also conceptual, intertwining art and poetry in a single creative breath, bringing out a strong reflection on women, on their beauty and on their complexity.
