What/who inspired the work? Moving back to Sweden after two decades in London U.K and settling into a new home and lifestyle in a rural town in the midst of the country. Now finding ourselves living with the luxury of immediate closeness to wild nature and the outdoor lifestyle that we so sorely had missed and longed for right on our doorstep. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? I hope this painting will capture your imagination and lure you to stay for a while, looking at all the details I love to pay attention to when creating art. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style? Settling into a new, much loftier studio to work in -in comparison to my previous small London space, I felt the need to stretch out and go big. I love working with oil paint and thought it would be fun challenging myself on a large scale canvas. I wanted to push myself out of any comfort zones, trying a more abstract approach in style and see if I could capture my feelings, leaving London (that’s been my home town for the past 18 years) and depict impressions from our resettlement when discovering our new surroundings, all in one painting.
