My name is Shilpi Sharma & I have got a Bachelor’s degree in textile design followed by masters in fashion designing. Post my studies I worked for many years as a designer & product head at various fashion brands and had been involved in the design process aspect of the products for various season collections. Based currently in Worcester, UK, I’m largely a self-taught artist who have always enjoyed drawing & painting and had taken part in many events & competitions early on and now in last couple of years have pursued this more actively. I have recently attended workshops in life drawing and watercolour for enhancing my skills and learning new techniques to incorporate in my work. I also constantly try to improve my work with regular reading, visit to museums, studying & observing forms. I love to draw my inspiration from various sort of things – my travels, different places of interest, inspiration from landscapes, nature in its pristine untouched form. buildings & architecture that have survived through the times, various facets of humans faces & emotions. Also try to capture the nuances of the things we tend to overlook in day to day life. They all inspire and excite me to paint & interpret them in my own creative way. Watercolour is usually my preferred medium as it has a certain fluidity and looseness and I love the different effects & colour which I can get by mixing colours on paper and get diverse effects. I also try to bring interest in my work by incorporating mix media too & experimenting with visual textures, shapes and colours in many of my works. It brings me joy and a meditative connect , which I constantly try for the viewers to have a similar connect with my paintings & inspires them to ponder & feel contented.
