ABOUT THE ARTWORK
'Galaxies in motion, colour study' I am fascinated by the images of space produced by the Hubble and now the James Webb Telescope. I have used these as a starting point, together with my imagination, to make an image of Galaxies and they turn in space. Essentially I use a coil form which imitates the arms of millions of stars as they turn on their axis in light years of deep space. I use a variety of techniques to give a playful and colourful effect. I think it's very hard not to be in awe of these immense structures for which we are very privileged to see, thanks to these amazing telescopes. This painting is a study for a larger work at a later date and was made using Arches paper smooth paper which lends itself to fine detail. The fluidity of water based paints on paper mirrors the movement of the cosmic realm. 18x23 inches = 45.6x50.8cm. Anthony Richard Martin 11/09/24

His ‘hybrids’ series contemplates scientific experimentation that stitches together human and animal cells. For Anthony, this research has a nefarious underbelly; combining human and animal characteristics to enhance certain abilities for military or technological uses. He questions the morality of playing God and the potential pitfalls. With his hybrids, he explores these questions and anxieties in a humorous manner.
