ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My wife and I spent the winter of 2020 in a cottage on Old Orchard Beach ("OOB") in Maine as we awaited the construction of a new home. The pier is nearby, and adjacent to an old-time famous amusement park that's soaked in summertime nostalgia. The shore location is a popular attraction for artists. The incessant sound of the waves cascading into the pier footings and the aroma of the sea in the wind is profoundly meditative. In the summertime, it's also a magnet for seagulls of all types, attracted to the beach where they try all day to snatch a snack from amateur beachgoers who leave food out. These predators will even grab a sandwich right out of your hand if given the chance!
