Genesis, Blue and Turquoise Print

Though born in France, Jules’ earliest memories were of the sand, coral and turquoise blue of her childhood home in Bora Bora. It was there that she birthed her life-long love of the ocean and its creatures. It was there, living close to nature, where her imagination became her first best friend.  An adolescence spent in the concrete jungles of Los Angeles provided both a necessary counterpoint and a valuable cultural entree into American values and aesthetics that have woven themselves into many aspects of her life and work.  Throughout her adult life, Jules has followed her wanderlust from Tahiti, to South Africa, to the Caribbean, to South America, to Europe; combining art, healing, and an affinity for the nautical into a rich tapestry of muted cool and rich warm hues.  Her work is an acknowledgment of the order that she has imposed on her chaotic universe. Tightly layered lines exert their intention and focus onto the cool fluid, aimless, nonchalance beneath. Jules hopes that her art will connect with viewers whose experience of this precious life is, similarly, like that of a leaf on a river’s current.
