Born in Sicily in 1984, Maria started to love art at the age of 5 thanks to her family members artists. After attending the Artistic High school she moved to Florence where she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence in 2008. The smell of Renaissance and the incredible beauty of the city were the basis of developing several creative interests. After 12 years in Florence, she decided to move to England in 2015. Happy English resident now, she creates with both techniques: traditional and digital interested in portraiture and abstract painting. Her abstracts explore inner feelings and emotions generated by casual or inducted events. Maria is interested in the philosophical as well as the psychological side and power of art. This is why she also try to express thoughts and subconscious realities not always possible expressed with words. Maria is a MA art history student, freelance tutor alongside working as teaching assistant. Maria is also a member of the new Bookmark Artists Collective and she recently started a collaboration as intern with Emergent Art Space .
