About The Artwork
Oil on linen 40x60x2cm ( 15.7x23.6x0.8in) 2020, ready to hang “Giulio sleeps” is the first painting that I created after the birth of my first son, Giulio. I took the picture which I used as sample for painting the artwork at home, while he was sleeping in his pram. The artwork highlights some of my favourite painting techniques: drapery and skin. It is painted on a deep indigo blue background which slightly gets lighter on the upper part of the work (not visible in the pictures). The detail is realistic and the tri-dimensionality easily perceivable. “Giulio sleeps” is a 40x60cm oil on linen painting, mounted on a supported wooden frame and painted with top quality oil colours.

In my paintings I focus on figures and their interaction with the landscape and architecture. After spending some years being very faithful to the samples, I am now experimenting different styles of painting and alternating portraits (mainly commissions) with sperimental artworks. Also, I am increasingly taking advantage of image editing softwares in pre-production to find the best colours and lights for the painting. I use oil colours both on wood and linen. All the materials used in the artworks are high quality, from hand primed canvas (by myself, using a classic method that prevents from aging and deterioration) to colours.
