Sunbeams dance with fluttering leaves on a warm, cozy day. The sun shines through the foliage. Picture «Glare in the Garden» refers to a botanic series “The Rhythmic Garden Series” which depicts the constant movement of leaves as irregular rhythms. These dynamic drawings reveal the harmony found within the chaos and abstractness of nature, one which continues off the canvas. It is made in the style of modern abstraction with acrylic and oily marker on paper.

Nina Réroot is a contemporary abstract artist inspired by inner beauty, translating rhythms into complex systems : I view everything around me as an irregular “ornament” made by the correlations of colors and shapes, detached from their silhouettes. In my work, I naturally approach the composition as a complex system of rhythms and waves of color, one in which “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts,” as Aristotle wrote. I break apart and then reassemble in order to create a piece with its own meaning, a meaning which surpasses that found within the individual components. Through my art, I translate a unity made of both the inseparable and the incongruous. People often describe my works as being illuminated from the inside, from beneath the surface. As if something is reaching out to them from the other side of the canvas. Visually transmitting what delights an ever-evolving person is like capturing one’s inner movement in a photograph. I am drawn to decode, discover, and rediscover the transformative paths that lead us to our authentic selves. I admire the transcending nature of humankind, the presence of an inexplicable element that sends us out in search of the sublime and towards the joy of being who we fully are. I am an open-minded student of all movements within Art History. Regardless of style, I first consider the artist as a thinker, one who attempts to uncover the truth and understand the world. To me, they wordlessly express their interpretation of the meaning of life through their work. As Picasso said, “It is not what an artist does that counts. But what he is.” When studying any artistic movement, I observe and absorb the complexity, expressivity, and dynamics of the interactions between colors and textures. I especially enjoy studying the bold color transitions of the avant-garde. I love learning about the roots and mentalities of any culture, folk art, craft, or ornaments. The applied arts particularly interest me as they relate to everyday life. My graphic expression blends the depth found in the works of iconic painters with the decorativeness and picturesqueness of Neo-Russian folk art. The questions I ask myself are heavily influenced by both the artistic and intellectual works of Vasiliy Kandinsky in the field of abstract art. I appreciate how polarities coexist in life as they do in art.
