About The Artwork

With its sharp angles and harsh edges it emphasises the vulnerability and delicacy of a glass house. We often like to criticise others, when we have many flaws of our own and this painting embodies the fragility of protecting our own endangered house or lives. The sharp contrast of the whites symbolises how oblivious we may be towards others while the harsh darker tones of the blue indicate the savage reality of our own flaws.

Natasha B is a self-taught artist whose work utilises bright and bold colours in her fearless approach to creating dramatic and often statement pieces. Her artwork reflects a punk spirit and exuberance, the cult edges and angles infused with her experiences of growing up in London. The neon colours beam euphoria and playfulness as they cut against dark contrasting backgrounds mirroring the harsh choices we make as we grow up. There is however a versatility in her work which punctures through genres effortlessly, reflecting her own journey in trying to find order and beauty in the chaos surrounding us. To show how the darkness in our lives can be fought by the purity of kindness and love. Her romanticised notion of beauty permeates through her artwork, with earthy hues inspired by the countryside around Manchester where she is currently based. Natasha mixes use of spray paint with acrylic paint as well as contrasting pallet knife techniques. Natasha states “There is never a plan or an idea in executing a painting. I try to tell a new story each time through spontaneity and imagination, as these are my tools in creating great art” "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up" - Pablo Picasso
