ABOUT THE ARTWORK
'Glendalough' is a depiction of Glendalough's Monastic site, from the river side. I have always enjoyed nature, hiking and being in the mountains generally as a traveller. When traveling in Wicklow, I felt drawn to its rugged mountains, fresh open lakes and rivers and its rich and diverse fields and forests which never ceases to enlighten me. Through my travels I have studied Irish, British, Canadian and Scandinavian landscapes, using mixed media such as paper, oil bar, chalk and graphic techniques to capture these majestic locations. I hope my multi-faceted painting approach gives the viewer an idea of my appreciation for not just its grandeur, but my personal experiences of these places and their memory to me.
