Scott Neil B.Des (hons) My influences are The Glasgow Boys, Mum and dad (students at the Glasgow School of Art in the 1960's), Impressionists and Colourists. I trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, Dundee Scotland and am now living in beautiful Brisbane. After many years painting coastal scenes of Scotland I now takes delight and inspiration from the vibrant landscapes and colours of Australia. The Australian landscape is an incredible mix of scenery from crystal blue water and iron red earth to silver sands and emerald forests all set under a truly big sky. It's a magical place for an artist to stop, stretch out all their senses and really observe and understand the landscape. Scott strives to capture that sense of place and time through his use of colour, light, rhythm and brush marks. I have been exploring Queensland and parts of South Australia, enjoying the scenes you will see reflected in my artwork. Further trips across the length and breadth of Australia are planned with even more opportunities to capture these moments in paint. Check back soon for fresh new pieces as part of his Australian series. I have also enjoyed success as an illustrator. I've been honored to be involved with a heritage body, global gaming publishing companies, kickstarter projects and as a guest artist at events in the United Kingdom (Edinburgh World Heritage, Cubicle 7, Chaosium, AEG, Pelgrane Press, I Love the Corps Kickstarter, Conpulsion Edinburgh, Dragon Meet London). I am also open to discussing commissions. Please feel free to get in touch to check my availability. Thanks for checking out my artwork.
