My little 7 year old nephew loves Golden Eagles and wanted a painting of one. I've wanted to paint these majestic birds for a long time so he was definitely my inspiration. The colors on the feathers seem iridescent with the shades of brown that I saw. The intensity of this golden eagle's gaze is so striking and kept drawing me back to his eyes. With watercolor, you can control the amount of paint you apply so I was able to get the depth of his beautiful feathers as well as the light tone of his eyes.
