Gorgon Print

30x30 cm acrylic on canvas. This painting depicts that not everything that looks beautiful, ís beautiful. In this age, we spend a lot of time of appearances, whether it's our own or others. This can both hide and lead to issues on our inside: our body, our private life and our head. I chose a Gorgon because of the best-known one: Medusa. Although the original Greek myth describes her and her sisters as monsters - gorgons - and children of Phorcys and Ceto, (Roman) retellings often depict her as a beautiful woman that got turned into a gorgon. In the end, born a monster or not, she still has a deadly feature: looking into a gorgons's eyes turns you to stone.
