ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I am inspired by the work of the Abstract Expressionists. I try to represent the feeling of the atmosphere, outdoors, and to show how the light plays across open spaces. I don't have a fixed idea of how the final painting may look, instead I begin with a loose idea and begin to have a conversation with the canvas at each stage. Grand Stand shows a large quiet empty space which has many memories of noise, excitement, and competition, yet now everyone has gone home and it has become still and silent
