Influences include Impressionistic masters such as Monet, Bonnard, Picasso, and Van Gogh. I call upon vibrant color brushwork and light to translate places, animals, and abstract ideas onto canvas and paper. Creating two distinct planes of light and color, I use light leaks, shape, color, saturation and shape to expose wonder. I work with acrylic washes, inks, pencils, gel mediums, and glosses to create texture and movement.
In addition to representational work, I create semi abstract paintings that revolve around a central color. Aiming for a meditative, calm abstract style that is simultaneously timeless and modern.
