About the Artist

Harriet Liu

Canada

As a contemporary landscape painter, my practice explores the intersections of place, memory, and resilience through observations of the environments we inhabit. Rooted in personal experience, my work reflects an ongoing interest in how landscape can hold emotional narratives and reveal moments of quiet transformation.

Based in Oakville, Ontario, I draw inspiration from the shifting qualities of light and its ability to transform familiar landscapes. My recent neighborhood-based series examines the interplay of light across urban architecture and natural spaces, capturing fleeting moments that evoke stillness, nostalgia, and a sense of timelessness.
I am a graduate of Sheridan College's Visual and Creative Arts Advanced Diploma program. My work has been recognized with First Prize at the Oakville Art Society Annual Juried Exhibition and has been presented in solo and group exhibitions at Oakville Galleries, Holcim Gallery, and Gallery 1313. I was selected as the Slipvillan Artist-in-Residence in Stockholm, Sweden, and have also been selected to exhibit at the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair.
My paintings are held in private collections across Canada, Sweden, and China, including collections in Oakville, Toronto, Mississauga, Vaughan, Etobicoke, Stockholm, and Beijing.
