Simona is a filmmaker and visual artist from Puglia, Italy the currently resides in Los Angeles, California. The characters in her filmed projects interchangeably become characters in her paintings. Often the reverse is also truth with a painting being the creative spark to create a world around someone that we get to see in her award-winning projects. For her, both painting and film are conduits of self expression. With paintings, we have a feeling, we get to see a glimpse into someone or something - a moment. With a film, we explore that feeling and take it further, we are able to show the psyche behind that highlighted moment and the reasons behind it. Simona often focuses her work in painting the complexity and beauty of the female anatomy and soul. Human instincts and passions find a strong source of representation which comes alive with her bright colors, often using warm tones such as reds. Her passionate character emanates in all her artworks. Her search for goodness in people and society often leads her to disappointment but through her paintings she is able to find a healing path, a cure to societal rules that sometimes keep us away from what really matters in life -the search of meaning. Her paintings are a window to a better world, sometimes through a process of healing and often times through understanding deep down what as individuals motivate us and the raw passions that move us.
