About The Artwork

This work was inspired by my Tahitian wife Colette and her struggle with cancer and the struggle with my own grief and that of my children from losing their mother. I hope viewers will understand the symbolism here is Tahitian and the medium was predominantly inspired by the famous post Impressionist Paul Gauguin. Heavenly honor that’s sublime Mass murdering pogrom it’s a crime Destroying angel without measure Cain the first to ply her pleasure True killers without shame Soldiers of fortune-seeking fame Appeasers they who do not fear her Resulting only in bringing her nearer Looking out for any weakness Hungry wolves feigning meekness Stalwart strength keeping at bay Live to fight another day Taking lengths avoiding vices Wealthy mortals paying high prices Hopeless shame when all is lost Humanity again forgetting the cost Those who kill to see her face Dying in the blackest embrace A final victory to be won Until all dark deeds are done When at last revelation unfolds We becoming the destroyers of worlds The race we run to win is death The last human gasping the last breath

I came to art late earning my degree in Art and Design from Utah Valley University in May 2019. My artistic influences are religious symbolism specifically the themes of love and death. I am heavily influenced by my favorite artists Paul Gauguin and Wassily Kandinsky their writings and work. I grew up the eldest of fourteen children in Utah County so family and religion influenced me greatly. I am the father of three children becoming a single parent while my children were still young after the death of my first wife to cancer. Oil painting is my obsession for expressing my hopes, dreams, and struggles. Art is life-changing, inspiring, and fulfilling. I hope that others can connect with and experience my paintings. I connect with the contemporary art movement called Ascensionism.
