Ali Kursun is a Turkish/Swiss visual artist based in Geneva, Switzerland. Entirely self-taught, his approach to painting is deeply intuitive. He began his artistic journey working with dry pastels, often covering the canvas in earthy tones to create his first compositions. Over the course of fourteen years of creative practice, his work has garnered attention for its bold experimentation. Kursun employs a range of unconventional techniques in both painting and photography, embracing a deliberately exploratory and experimental process. Shaped by his encounters with diverse cultures and people, his art consistently returns to its core concern: the human senses. At heart, Kursun is a storyteller, a futurist, and a reflective inquirer into the human condition. His exploration of knowledge and perception fuels his creative motivation. "In essence, art is the unspoken language of feelings. It’s about perceptual worlds and senses. You either feel a piece of art or you don’t. Art is intuitive — a universal system of communication," he reflects. Ali Kursun lives and creates in Geneva, Switzerland.
