I was born in Essex UK and throughout school struggled to balance my love for both the arts and science. After much deliberation I eventually decided against studying fine art and instead embarked upon a career in medicine. Following a period of devotion to books and science in order to pass my anaesthetics exams I was desparate for an opportunity to express myself artistically and to further my studies of the arts. This led to a year studying contemporary dance in London and working on broadening my understanding of colour and form whilst expanding my art portfolio. I now combine work for the NHS with both dance and visual art, working as a contracted artist for the Minories Gallery in Colchester. I find the process of creating artwork a wonderful release from the rigour of medicine and hope that others can find a similar release and escapism in my work.
