Mikel van Gelderen (1963) lives and works from Tetterode in Amsterdam. He studied at the art academy in Den Bosch in the early 1980s and developed further by inviting self-chosen masters to his studio and discussing his work with them. His urge to create was expressed in 1996 as an architect (Zeinstra van Gelderen architects) with commissions in Almere, Ede, and large living/office projects in the Amsterdam districts De Aker, IJburg and for the WesterIJdok. His architectural work often borders on visual art. In addition to his architectural career, he always continued to draw and paint. With his LANDSCHAPPEN, Mikel depicts imaginary nature fantasies that seduce the viewer to introspection. The works are created in a sequence from an intuitive, uncontrolled start to a graphic precision in which colour and depth contribute impressively. You are invited for pleasure, comments and purchases.
