Micol Sanko was raised in Topanga Canyon, an artist’s retreat surrounded by urban Los Angeles, California. Micol hails from generations of artists and received early encouragement to begin experimenting with the paintbrush; no rules, no regulations. Through this inspiration, Micol came to value art grounded in personal experience, as did the American abstract expressionists who came before her. The result is a free-form, unconventional approach evidenced in Micol’s unique style today. Micol allows each painting to express itself on its own terms. Her art communicates on many levels, and inspires transformative experience in the collective consciousness. Micol believes that a great painting speaks over a lifetime in a clear voice, with hopeful and changing dialogue throughout each day. In all of Micol's endeavors, her mission is to bring forth hope and healing.
