ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I still like to paint traditionally and this illustration has been done this way too. Probably you have realised what the theme is about, but if you haven’t right away I urge you to take a moment before it is explained to you. This would make it much more fun. It is a slightly satirical sketch, though poignant at the same time. What I am alluding to is when usually many of us feel cool in shades, it isn’t entirely like that for this chap, if you get what I mean. He may look good wearing them, however something is out of place and those glasses give it away. Indeed, what is enlightened from his image counts for us as well. Two more allusions I would like to give you are melting Arctic ice and an unusual look, something that is rather odd. As for the painting itself, it is a mixed media on a Hahnemuhle (Fineart) Cornwall 450 g/m – 210 lbs matt watercolour paper. The paper actually measures 42cm X 56cm, but the painting less the border (tape) shown in the uploaded additional image really measures 52cm X 38cm. My markings would be on the rear once I get to make them.

Jason is a painter and illustrator of various styles and different media for different ends. Principally a surrealistic and abstract artist, he has a fondness for satire and caricature, with a hint of humour fantasy and the whimsical. Nevertheless, there is a realistic and a sober aspect to some of his work too. His different genres of works are ongoing series which are added to from time to time, whether it is his Aviary, Abstract, Allegoric or any other style he employs. World events, social affairs and politics draw his attention, but he can be inspired by everything and anything seen, heard or felt. His expression can be direct or ambiguous. What is prevalent throughout his work is light, movement and flow, hardly any black is employed, leaning towards enlightenment.
