There is a moment in a mother's pregnancy when she realizes that she has fallen in love with someone even before meeting them. My moment was when I was three months pregnant, battling a brutal head cold. I was feeling so miserable that I sat my kitchen table and cried. Cried because that is all I could do. Then just as I thought I was alone in my misery, feeling yucky and worthless, there was a flutter in my belly. It was the first time I felt my son move. I felt like he was letting me know that everything was going to be okay. In that moment, I fell in love with him, and that love has only grown stronger. The artwork features a vivid abstract composition predominated by shades of pink, red, and purple. The central focus of the painting is a large, round form that occupies the bottom-left portion of the canvas, suggesting an organic or cellular structure. This form is gently cradled by a soft swirl or curve that stems from the painting's lower right corner, almost giving the impression of an embrace. Complementing the main shape are two smaller circular forms situated at the top, one directly above the larger mass and another nestled within the encompassing curve. The background is a dynamic play of brushstrokes in varying tones of purple and pink, providing a sense of movement and depth. The prominent use of colors within the same spectrum lends a sense of harmony and emotional warmth to the piece.

My passion for art began at my grandparent's kitchen table many years ago. Together with my grandfather, we would draw pictures with crayons and markers of the world around us and characters that expressed how we felt. Today, I have traded my crayons for paintbrushes. When I am not painting, I work with elementary students, sharing my passion for art with tomorrow's future leaders (and buyers of art!). Although my grandparent's kitchen table now is the center piece in my own kitchen, I have never forgotten the importance of expressing one's ideas and the intimate connection we make when creating and viewing art. Art truly is not to be 'understood' per say, but rather experienced with our minds, our hearts and our souls.
