ABOUT THE ARTWORK

September always marks the beginning of a weird period of time for me. I almost feel disconnected from reality, in a space where I phisically find myself into without actually being there psychologically. The Google maps position sign in this painting is a symbol of our false beleif of knowing where we are, at what point in our life we find ourselves in, helped by a technological progress, which gives us the illusion of being able to interpet the growing complexity of our inner and external world. When the illusion clashes against reality, pain comes in as the nails on the girl's back. She does not pay attention to it because suffering is shared by each and everyone of us, and it may also be considered part of what makes the human condition so precious.

I consider the creative act an extremely personal act, through which I try to psychoanalyze and exorcise myself. In my works the human figure takes on a central meaning, since bodies, and faces in particular, are an important signifier that helps me in my growth process. The figures in my works want to be a mirror of my interiority and of of those whomay find themselves in my gesture. The body is the form par excellence in my paintings, because it is the most immediate, the one to which it is easier to approach and the one in which it is easier to recognize oneself. The use of the body therefore serves me to carry out a psychological rather than a physical analysis. In all my works it is possible to notice the commmon thread of disturbance. The semantic force of the figure, often rigid, is a consequence of the underlying anxiety that pushes me towards the need for this self-analysis. Everything I depict remains static, blocked, in a state of power and immobility. This stillness is a symbol of a basic ineptitude, not only personal but also generational, to adapt to an environment in which constant movement often prevents a sufficiently accurate internal analysis. With my work I want to create parallel time, in which it is possible to reclaim a space for our hidden vulnerabilities and their hidden beauty.
