About the Artist

Amalamati Lissimore

Spain

I am a British artist living and working in Barcelona. I work in oils, acrylics, inks, watercolour and collage. What interests me is the process of building up layers: I like the sense of a piece of artwork germinating and growing through time. Seeing evidence of this process in the finished piece gives it a presence in time as well as in space. In this way the work has a history behind it as well as a story that flows from it.

As a visual artist, who has spent many years in the world of music, I see my path as an exploration of the subtle and mysterious connections between sound and image. The hidden link between the two is our secret inner world of feeling. This is where our dreams and memories, our deepest yearnings and worst fears all find their voice. The connection between inner and outer images fascinates me: dreamscapes and landscapes. My more recent work shifts between these two worlds- and more and more I am exploring the borderland between them: images from dreams, fantasies or memories interact with elements of the outside world so that a dialogue is established between these inner and outer realities, between feeling and form, color and design. The line between representational and abstraction is blurred to create a world that evokes, entices and suggests.
