Biography: Mathias Marcellin is a French artist, born in Paris in 1985. He discovered painting with his father, a painter, at a very young age.He moved to Belgium in 1998 and studied art from 2003 at the St-Luc Institute in Brussels. He then made many trips abroad, including to the United States where he exhibited in Chicago in 2010 at the Iron Flat Building where he made many encounters and exchanges with different artists. In 2011, in order to discover other horizons and artistic influences, he lives in Japan for a few months. Back in Belgium, he studies architecture; completes a bachelor's degree in art history and archaeology and works as a self-taught painter. Approach : My work is gradually moving towards a synthesis between different forms of expression, being divided between lyrical abstraction, geometrical abstraction and figuration. The work of the material and contrasts are very present and for certain works, I use a technique of crackling to amplify certain emotions. I am currently exploring ways to integrate into my compositions an abstraction marked by cubism.
