Nastia was born in Zlatoust, Russia in 1997. A self-taught artist, she began painting at the age of 12. By 17, she was receiving commissioned portrait work. Studying Linguistics & Translation at Chelybinsk University she developed a love of different cultures and an international scope of the world. After graduating, she traveled for a year to many of the artistic centers of the world: Prague, Paris, Barcelona, Dresden, and Rome, before settling in New York City to set up shop and hone her style which currently can be most associated with the Symbolism movement. Taking inspiration from Gustave Klimt and countryman, Mikhail Vrubel, Nastia creates her own spin on the genre intertwining mythological and dreamy images imbued with intensely personal color schemes that reflect her inner being. “I see beauty all around. The inspiration to paint comes from my interpretation of the beauty I see in the world each day: faces (portraits are my main theme for paintings), nature’s different colors and shades, and the raw beauty of textures. In my paintings I aspire to express my feelings and emotions through the beauty I see. I love playing with the vibrant colors found in nature, and frequently, summery topics like bright and fleshy fruit, glistening seascapes, and the still lives that inhabit these worlds.”
