In a rapidly changing world, where the surge of information challenges our perceptions and emotions, the need to adapt and learn is more pressing than ever. Our lives are inundated with a constant influx of data, pushing us to process, evolve, and navigate through the currents of an increasingly complex reality. The "Abstract Portraits of Interactive states of mind" series delves deep into the psyche of our contemporary world. Each painting captures the chaos of thoughts, ideas, and data that swirl within the realm of a modern mind. The intricate layers of colors, textures, and shapes mirror the complexity of information overload, transforming it into a tangible and captivating visual experience. These abstract portraits, beckon you to engage, interpret, and resonate with their stories. You may find familiarity in one and unease in another – such is the nature of our subjective experiences. The intention is not uniform agreement but rather the stimulation of dialogue and introspection.

Inspired mainly by: subconscious, dreams, fantasy, memory, feelings, string theory, holographic theory, quantum theory, cognitive science, randomness, chaos, microscopic, macroscopic. I prefer working with watercolors, acrylics, oils, oxidations, collage, fabric on canvas, paper, metal, wood and basically mixed media. Anything I can get my hands on really. In my paintings I work from memory and/or imagination, and I like experimenting with different materials, techniques and tools. I usually prefer to start a painting with a very flexible idea, a memory or a feeling and allow room for constructive randomness and chance. I am usually experimenting with different or altered perspectives, and I am more interested in the fragmented, deformed out of focus way of expressing and/or perceiving “reality”. The creation of different textures, the thickness or type of the paint, the constant dialogue with the non-specific, the back and forth, the layers of colors, the adding and the subtracting are all part of the process I enjoy and follow when painting. My educational background and early professional years are scientific (BSc Industrial Chemistry and Design from The City University, London, UK) but have been into arts & crafts for the last 20 years. Mainly self taught, I followed numerous seminars and workshops from local artists and craftsmen in India, Greece & England. I believe that Art & Science have a lot in common and even more to learn from each other. I was born in Athens, and grew up between Athens, Johannesburg, and London. I am currently based on the Greek Islands of Aegina & Amorgos.
