ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In the piece, we return again to the theme of a mother’s love. In this scene, we can only imagine what the daughter is concerned about but she takes comfort in the embrace of her mother. In this composition, the diagonal created by the mother looking toward the daughter (down and to the left) is balanced by the diagonal formed from the cherry blossoms on the top left leading through the pink dress and on to flowers at the bottom right.
