ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is an original oil painting on canvas. It does not come ready to hang. The edges of the canvas are painted neatly in green so framing is optional. This painting was inspired by my beloved cat 'Ralph'. This was the last moment I saw him before he left this earthly realm. I think it was a sort of therapy to deal with the loss. I wanted to try and express the importance of a moment in time, so fleeting and precious which can never be experienced again. I hope that the viewer will feel both sadness and joy when they look at this painting, especially if they have lost a beloved pet. I think it can bring hope of eternity. I painted it on a slightly longer format as it represents a journey from one world to the next. The light beyond the trees and the little spots of light surrounding him suggests the magical mystery of his journey. The long shadow cast by the morning sun shows transition from night to day and so it is from life to the other side.

Antoinette is a British artist, born and raised in Surrey, England. She is currently based in France where she has her studio. Exhibiting extensively in Europe and the U.K, her work is also in private collections worldwide and is licensed for wall-art in the United States. Antoinette's paintings are considered 'naive' in style, drawing mostly on her imagination. Her work invites the viewer to enter into her sometimes surreal world of dreams and fantasy. Solitary figures, animals and long shadows are recurring themes where there is always a little light to be found in the dark.
