ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In 2018, I found myself in the story of Inanna. In the Sumerian myth, Inanna is the Queen of Heaven who descends to the underworld to pay her respects to her sister, but on this journey, she must shed a garment representative of each of the chakras at each gate. When she finally arrives in the underworld, her sister, Ereshkigal, is angry that she has been neglected for so long and hangs Inanna's body on a nail to rot. Eventually, help is sent, and Inanna is nourished by the waters of life and begins her rise back up to her abode in heaven. This myth is a testament to the journey we all have to make in life as we reconnect to our shadow selves within and reclaim ourselves as an individuated person, rising from the depths. This myth has been a companion to me in my own healing journey. May it spark a reclamation of all aspects of self in your own life.

I am an intuitive and self-taught artist currently based in Rochester, NY. My paintings are a deeply personal meditative process where I alchemize emotions, experiences, and esoteric studies. There is a connection between my emotional landscape and inner vision, a form of synesthesia. I see all of my experiences through the lens of color and channel this onto canvas. The central theme of my work is healing, my own and that of the world. Pain is universal and I hope to provide beauty and a new lens of seeing as a salve to our shared grief. I'm not only interested in making, I believe art is a conversation and my deepest joy is in discovering what the viewer sees in the work, it is in this conversation where my creativity expands.
