ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I want the viewer to feel/sense the stirring of a light breeze and a sight nostalgia for the hot days of summer past. This painting was inspired by the change in seasons from summer to autumn. The light is clear but the colours are more subtle than summer colours. The use of graphite in free moving linework indicates the flight of insects and the open composition allows for a sense of spaciousness that is indicative of the cooler air, and soft light of the early autumn days.

Each piece of my art is truly an original, one of a kind creation, that will light up any room in your home or workplace. I believe in the power of art to uplift the spirit and enhance the surroundings. My work is contemporary and abstract in style, my paintings sit equally well in a classic interior, as they do in a more modern setting. I paint abstract landscapes and abstract details from nature, inspired by patterns made by leaves, or a flickering reflection of the light on grass. I find inspiration and joy in the surrounding landscape, and the emotional memory of my early childhood in Ireland. My driving intention is to provoke a feeling of nostalgia and a sense of wonder in the viewer. I want the art to connect on a subconscious level with a lost memory or feeling of déjà vu - much like how a scent or music can transport us to forgotten magic moments in the past. I am an Irish artist living near Albi, Occitanie, France. My family and I have recently moved to France, having lived in China and Singapore for the past 9 years. After university and for the following 17 years, I had successful careers as both an interior designer and professional florist. I have worked in both Ireland and the United Kingdom. I have been a creative all my life and I am committed to the artistic path and the ongoing quest for knowledge, inspiration and experimentation to develop my passion for art.
