Growing up in Northern Arizona, I've always had a love for the Aspens, especially in winter. I selected one color for this painting - indigo - because I'm fascinated by conveying depth of field with just one color. I believe that indigo also conveys a coolness that I hope the viewer can feel.

I live in the Texas Hill Country but my heart is in Northern Arizona, where I was born and raised. I am a self-taught artist who prefers watercolor because of its transparency and unpredictability. It is an unforgiving medium, and I know immediately if a painting will not work. Sources for my paintings are Arizona and other areas I love in the western states.
