This painting is the first of a cycle of works entitled "Ribellione silente" which began in 2017. It is the painting that showed me a path to follow and that in some way illuminated my way of painting. It is the first large painting and it is the first, at least from my way of seeing, that satisfied my search for union between the figurative and the colorist strength of abstraction. It is the great masters of the past, for example Botticelli's drawing, who inspire a clear and precise sign, a delimited outline of the form, but it is the modern or contemporary masters who fascinate me in the use of mental colour. The title of the work refers to an episode that occurred in the autumn of 2017, the year in which I painted this painting. A small swallow, born in a nest next to my windows, was found on the ground and did not have the strength to join the migration that its companions were preparing to undertake. She remained alone, and despite my efforts to feed her, she died in the few days following the disappearance of all the other swallows. I believe we are aware of the fact that we can't do anything alone. It is a story of abandonment, of impotence but which painting allows me to overcome by imagining, as the title of the painting says, that the swallow is about to take flight together with the others, that the migration is complete, that life has won over death .
