How do we see or don't see? What does examining or viewing one's surroundings with or without a fresh vision mean? Images may become mundane with the familiarity of repetition, resulting in a neglected or unnoticed importance and significance. The process of looking at and experiencing my surroundings is an essential element of my art-making method. My abstract paintings are built upon a catalog of daily experiences within a framework of looking up, down, and through as I navigate throughout the day. My world is contradictory to its vastness of space and smallness of being overlooked. In my geometric abstractions, I seek to depict my daily viewings' tangible and visual interpretations. In my most recent work, my curiosity about how the landscape has been altered through urban and rural planning conditions has shifted my practice. The architecture found in both rural and urban settings can be in harmony with its natural environment or a disjunction of space; both are inspiring. The appealing geometric patterns attract me to aerial views of cultivated farmland and urban landscapes. The overlapping and intersections of these areas are the most exciting for me, specifically, next to an untamed land.

My geometric-shaped paintings embrace contemporary art practices of relevant pluralism. The artwork is an intersection of fine art, architecture, and design, referencing underlying themes in art history and mixing and merging concepts. Admiring past practices of 20th-century geometric abstraction, I recognize and challenge the movement for its reductive strains and return to the initial discourse that led to the investigation. My paintings include symbolic colors and the illusion of space that otherwise would be excluded from the movement. The edges of my artwork define a rotation of deep and shallow areas, navigated by an atmospheric apparition creating the impression of space. Incorporating ornate motifs and flat planes of color, I invite the viewer to pause - to linger, accompanying the rhythm of my daily happenings.
