This painting represents the dreaded feeling all artists and creatives have encountered at some point, when the inspiration no longer flows like water. In a sense, this can be one of the most painful feelings an artist encounters, as they desperately reach into the ether to grasp as something that calls out to them, only to find nothing there. The hand that reaches for the faucet represents the ideal muse that opens the flow of inspiration.

My work explores the relationship between consumer fetish, an ever-present anxiety ringing like tinnitus, and the key moments of our lives as Broadway performances. With influences from Magritte to Dali to internet memes, these synergies form a pop surrealism open to opaque and transparent discourse. I’ve always been fascinated by the endless oscillation of our temporal moods. What starts out as hope is inevitably corrupted by some fashion of temptation, leaving us a sense of nihilism and dread, but possibly enough left in the tank to garner prospects of a new beginning. Round and round it goes. Nothing ever really ends, though the viewer is left with insight into the possibilities within the next cycle.
