It all started trying to let my imagination go; sketching in notebooks during class time at school, on the way back home by train and so on; doodling, drawing, painting, experimenting... Visual arts started to shape my understanding of the world. Painting, in particular, filled me with a sense of accomplishment enabling me to translate a rich inner vision into an accesible message. My parents engaged a private painter in my native Barcelona to teach me and the rest is history. My work reflects a variety of artistic interests driven by the search for the unifying forces of life and death. Whether it is in the fabulous forces of light and nature, the memories hidden in urban landscapes, the looks of people, in phantasy or in abstraction, I always strive to unlock new meaning for my audiences. My works show a boundless enthusiasm of handling paint in multiple ways experimenting with oils, water-colours, acrylic and collage, even though my favourite medium is oil. My portfolio addresses a wide range of themes, through which I seek to capture deep feeling and emotion through the interplay of figure, light and colour. Many elements of the artwork emerged spontaneously as the colours began to strike the canvas letting new textures appear, so that there is a strong developmental angle to much of this work in line with my motto of openness to learning.
