ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This work is part of a series called "Interiors". And they are abstract and geometric spaces that I observe from my house to the outside. That's why I call it that, they are seen from inside my own space. There are some geometric elements of colour blocks that are shades and objects that I observe. And I keep the saying "less is more". I wanted to simplify the composition as much as possible and it is a work that retains a minimalist spirit. In this case the shapes and the fields of color are as in movement in vibration. It is a new option that I wanted to incorporate the one that the space was in constant movement. It is made of a coat of casein glue primer over the 100% raw cotton canvas and leaves the canvas perfectly covered and stretched to add the acrylic paint and then I put a premium gel base to set and preserve the paint better. The work is stretched on a wooden frame and is ready to hang. I like frameless work, but I let collectors decide if they prefer to add a frame. It is signed front and back and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Annabel Andrews was born in the Isle of Wight in 1940   now lives and works in El Escorial near Madrid Spain, where the colour,  light and volumes of the mountains inspire her work. As also  her friendship with the late Spanish artists Pablo Palazuelo and Jose Guerrero. By preparing her own canvases with home made casein glue base and zinc white the work is light and luminous ready for applying acrylic colours.
