Oil on Canvas. My Grandma passed away many years ago and I miss her deeply. In her twenties, she lived in a shack on the beach, and had a very hard time being a widow, very poor and raising a young daughter on her own. She still was hopeful, and tried very hard to get by and live life to the fulles...

Ruthy Gold – Artist Statement Painting for me is like breathing. I cannot live without it… My greatest passion in life (after my kids) is color. My parents say I started drawing before I could talk. As a child, I used to sit for hours next to my small desk and draw. My mom had to check on me from time to time to make sure I was still there, since I was so focused and quiet. The most precious item I had was my box of crayons. As my major, I studied Applied Graphic Design at the Israeli Technion Institute (Tel Aviv Extension), and worked as a graphic designer for over 14 years. Through the years, I have taken a few painting classes/courses in different media, but I am mostly self-taught. My art participated in shows and galleries in California and in Israel and on Saatchi online Gallery. Art, and especially painting, was always a therapy for me, and art always helped me overcome life's challenges. Art is also for fun. From pencil drawing, silk painting, fabric painting, wood painting, oil or acrylic on canvas, I always enjoyed learning and experiencing more media and techniques, to express myself better. Currently, I am working with acrylic on canvas with a palette knife only (no brushes). I enjoy color everywhere; I love nature and I am taken by emotions. In my art, I want to use color and paint to bring "Emotions in Motion" to life on the canvas. I capture the movement of the moment. Like the wide color spectrum in nature, as humans, we also have a wide spectrum of emotions. I am blessed to be able to capture some of these emotions on canvas.
