About The Artwork
The subject of this Oil painting is a special beach on the Northern tip of the isle of Iona in the inner Hebrides in Scotland. The beach looks over to the cliffs of the Isle of Mull. The light on the island is world renowned for its special quality inspiring generations of aritsts including the Scottish Colourists. The painting depicts late afternoon when the glow of a rare sunny day warms the sea and unspoilt sandy beach. The light hits the pensisula and the small white sand bar jutting out into the sea. My son Tom (7) walks to the sea to paddle in the pristone waters.
